Sometimes I am the Storm

A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to visit the Homeplace. On a spring Tuesday morning, I hiked over the property. Observing the flora and fauna, I noticed how they had absorbed the wrath of winter. Bare and beaten, the trees appeared weak due to nature’s cycle. As the early spring sun shined upon our path, I was reminded of the ever-changing cycle of nature.

The insects, bees and wasps, were alive and buzzing about. Hell bent and determined to pollinate the ailing trees and budding blossoms, these creatures do what comes naturally. Nature is in a constant cycle to regrow, rebirth, and refresh much like humans, all in varying degrees.

The ever-changing cycle of nature can be witnessed in our own lives. As humans, we are in a constant state of change and evolution. Sometimes, I am the Storm. Destructive and fierce, I am howling and soaking my small world. After, the bits of my life left standing are thinned yet nourished by the rains and primed for renewal. The rebuilding and renewal process begins. And life can be made new again.

As the daffodils begin to bloom and peonies creep through the warming soil, I am reminded of the changes to come. As nature continues to repair and recover from the bitter winter season, I am reminded that I am in Spring’s embrace. New life and creation marches forward.
